Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) performance: PVC is divided into two types: soft and hard: hard PVC, high mechanical strength, excellent electrical performance, strong resistance to acid and alkali, good chemical stability; disadvantage: low softening point. Tensile strength, flexural strength, impact strength, impact toughness, etc. of soft polyvinyl chloride are lower than those of hard polyvinyl chloride, and elongation at break is higher.
common properties of plastics
Uses: Rigid PVC products include pipes, rods, plates, welding rods, centrifugal pumps, fans, wheel oil pipes, valves and containers for acid-base pumps, etc. Soft PVC products include storage tanks, sheets, films, wire insulation layers, window covers, acid and alkali resistant hoses, etc.
Polyethylene (PE) Performance: It is divided into three types: high-pressure, medium-pressure and low-pressure polyethylene. High-pressure polyethylene is flexible; low-pressure polyethylene is hard, has good cold resistance, and remains soft at -70℃. High chemical stability, resistant to acid, alkali and organic solvents. It has outstanding electrical properties and good radiation resistance. Coating on metal surface by flame spraying or electrostatic spraying can achieve purpose of anti-friction and anti-corrosion. Disadvantage is that mechanical strength is not high, and thermal deformation temperature is very low, so it cannot bear higher loads. Uses: Corrosion-resistant lining of chemical equipment and storage tanks, chemical corrosion-resistant pipes, valves, bushings, roller frames, to replace copper and stainless steel, insulation layer of high-frequency underwater cables or general cables, transistor radio magnetic rod antenna clips shelf.
Polystyrene (PS) Properties: It has a certain mechanical strength, excellent chemical stability and electrical properties, good light transmission, good coloring, and easy to form. It is characterized by almost complete water resistance, but its disadvantages are low heat resistance and brittleness, its products are easily broken due to internal stress, so it can only be used under low load and low temperature (60-75℃). Uses: Various instrument shells, skeletons, instrument indicator lights, lampshades, automobile lampshades, chemical acid storage tanks, acid delivery tanks (especially hydrofluoric acid), chemical instrument parts, telecommunication parts, can be used as optical instruments due to good transparency parts and lenses.
High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) Performance: Compared with polystyrene, it has higher toughness and impact strength, rest of properties are basically similar, and forming process is good. Uses: Various instruments, transistor radio shells, coil bobbins, textile bobbins, TV structural parts, agricultural vehicle water plate accessories, small plastic tubes and plates, etc.
Polystyrene modified plexiglass performance: good transparency. Mechanical strength is also high, it has certain heat resistance, cold resistance and weather resistance, corrosion resistance, and good insulation. Product is stable in size and easy to form. Disadvantage is that it is brittle and easily soluble in organic solvents. As a light-transmitting material, surface hardness is not enough and it is easy to scratch. In terms of its comprehensive performance, it exceeds general plastics such as polystyrene. Uses: Used to manufacture parts with certain transparency and strength, such as oil standards, oil cups, optical lenses, lenses, equipment signs, transparent pipes, car lights, transistor radio dials, and electrical insulation parts.
Styrene acrylonitrile copolymer (AS or SAN) Performance: It has higher impact strength and excellent heat resistance, oil resistance and chemical corrosion resistance than polystyrene. For example, it is well resistant to certain hydrocarbons that stress crack polystyrene. Modulus of elasticity is one of the highest among existing thermoplastics. Uses: Widely used in production of oil-resistant, heat-resistant, and chemical-resistant industrial products, as well as instrument panels, instrument frames, covers, battery boxes, junction boxes, various switches and regulations, etc.
Styrene-butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer (ABS) Performance: ABS is a "tough, hard and rigid" material. It has characteristics of high impact toughness and mechanical strength, stable size, good chemical resistance and electrical properties, easy to form and machine. In addition, surface can be chrome-plated, becoming a common material for plastic-coated metal.
In addition, ABS has good adhesion to #372 plexiglass, and can be used for two-color forming plastic parts. Uses: Used in mechanical industry system to manufacture cams, gears, pump impellers, bearings, motor casings, instrument cases, battery tanks, water tank casings, handles, refrigerator linings, etc., used in automotive industry to manufacture steering wheels, hot air conditioning , tube heaters, etc., and can also be used to manufacture casings for television transistor radios.
Polypropylene (PP) Properties: Main feature of polypropylene is low density, its mechanical properties are better than low-pressure polyethylene, it has outstanding rigidity and good heat resistance. Basically does not absorb water, and has good chemical stability, except for concentrated sulfuric acid and concentrated nitric acid, it is almost stable. It has excellent high-frequency electrical properties, is not affected by temperature, and is easy to form. Disadvantage is that wear resistance is not high enough, forming shrinkage rate is large, it is brittle at low temperature, and thermal deformation temperature is also low. Uses: It can be used as various mechanical parts, such as flanges, gears, joints, pump impellers, auto parts, chemical pipelines and container equipment, and can be used as lining, surface coating, audio tape, medical instruments and surgical instruments, etc.
Polycarbonate (PC) performance: impact strength is particularly outstanding. It is superior among general thermoplastic resins. Modulus of elasticity is high, and it is minimally affected by temperature, and heat-resistant temperature is 120℃, cold resistance reaches -100℃ before embrittlement. Dimensional stability is high, corrosion resistance and wear resistance are good. However, there is a sensitivity to water at high temperatures. Uses: used to manufacture gears, worms, racks, cams, mandrels, bearings, washers, rivets, pump impellers, automotive carburetor parts, lampshades, flash lampshades, throttle valves, lubricating oil pipes, various shells, containers , freezing and cooling device parts, electrical wiring boards, coil skeletons, acid battery tanks and high-temperature lenses, etc.
