Maintenance

Molds need to be regularly maintained. Proper care and maintenance can prevent malfunctions and save repair time.

First, clean

1. When cleaning, injection moulding machine must be in mold opening state and power of injection moulding machine must be completely turned off.
2. Wipe mold with a dry cloth. For some stubborn stains, use a neutral diluent, such as trichloroethylene or acetone.
3. Use wooden sticks or wooden brushes to clean places that are not easy to clean by hand. Rubber left on parts must be removed with a copper shovel or copper brush. It is forbidden to use iron or steel tools to avoid damage to mold!

Second, regular maintenance

In order to ensure life of mold, mold must be regularly maintained.
If any part is found to be damaged during maintenance, it must be reported immediately to superior.
Periodic maintenance should have written records to help find cause when a failure occurs.

Maintain

Following should be done by professionals.

First, valve needle cleaning and replacement

Within three months, if more than two valve needles are not working properly, valve needles must be cleaned and replaced.
1. Turn off cooling water in moving mold area.
2. Set nozzle temperature to 180℃.
3. After temperature of hot nozzle is reduced to 180℃, turn off cooling water in fixed mold area.
4. Close mold.
5. Connect moving and fixed mold parts through lock template.
6. Remove die screw on fixed template.
7. By jogging, slowly separate mold from fixed template of machine, and separation distance should not be less than 230mm.
Note: When moving, be careful to avoid damaging wires and air hoses, and remove them if necessary.
8. Remove screws and take out cylinder cover from fixed template through two M6 screws.
Note: To remove cylinder cover near gate sleeve, positioning ring must be removed first.
9. Remove cylinder piston with two M14 or M16 screws by removing tool.
10. Set nozzle temperature to 0℃.
11. Thoroughly clean cylinder, cylinder piston, and needle, and replace them if necessary.
12. Check sealing ring on cylinder piston and replace it if necessary.
13. Apply a layer of Molykote D grease to moving surface of cylinder piston.
14. Check sealing ring on cylinder cover and replace it if necessary.
15. Check valve needle. If it is damaged, remove plug and valve needle from cylinder piston for replacement.
16. Install in reverse order.

Second, cleaning and replacement of hot nozzle

1. Before removing hot nozzle, you must remove valve needle.
2. Separate cavity fixing plate from hot runner fixing plate.
3. Set temperature of hot nozzle to be taken out to 150℃ for heating.
4. Remove nozzle from nozzle cover.
5. Thoroughly clean fitting surface between nozzle and nozzle cover, and replace it if necessary.
6. Apply a layer of grease to thread of hot nozzle.
7. Install in reverse order.

Third, replacement of heating coil

1. Separate cavity fixing plate from hot runner fixing plate.
2. Loosen locking screw of heating nozzle heating wire and remove heating coil from heating nozzle.
3. If damaged, separate electrical connection between hot nozzle and wire socket, replace it.
4. Install in reverse order.

Fourth, replacement of Gate Coil Heating Coil

1. Close mold.
2. Connect moving and fixed molds together through lock template.
3. Remove screws on fixed template, separate mold from fixed template of machine through clamping mechanism.
4. Remove screws and take out positioning ring.
5. Take out heating coil of gate sleeve.
6. If damaged, separate electrical connection between heating wire and wire socket, replace it.
7. Install in reverse order.
Note: When replacing heating coil, its wire must be removed from corresponding wire socket. During disassembly, pay attention to color and number of wire!

Fifth, replacing thermocouple on hot runner plate

In principle, normal operation of each thermocouple must be guaranteed. If it is found to be defective, it should be replaced in time. In addition, electrical connection to temperature control box should be operated by professionals.
1. Separate cavity fixing plate and hot runner fixing plate.
2. Remove screws, take out thermocouple fixing plate, and remove thermocouple from hot runner plate.
3. If damaged, separate electrical connection between thermocouple and wire socket, replace it.
4. Install in reverse order.
Note: When replacing thermocouple, you must remove its wire from corresponding wire socket. During disassembly process, pay attention to color and number of wire!

Sixth, cleaning and replacement of core inserts

1. Close mold.
2. Stop heating.
3. Turn off cooling water in moving mold area.
4. Remove movable module opening module screw M16 and take out opening module.
5. Remove screws connecting ejector pin and ejector plate.
6. Connect ejector plate with cavity fixing plate through lock template.
7. Core fixing plate is separated from ejector plate by mold clamping mechanism, and separation distance must be greater than length of core.
Note: Be careful not to damage cooling water pipe. If necessary, it can be removed.
8. Remove screws and carefully remove entire core from core fixing plate.
9. Pull out cooling tube from core.
10. Thoroughly clean, inspect core and cooling pipes, and replace them if necessary.
11. Check sealing ring on core and replace it if necessary.
12. Install in reverse order. During installation, do not fully tighten screws first, wait for mold to close, and then lock cores in correct position.

Seventh, cleaning and replacement of cavity inserts

1. Open mold.
2. Stop heating.
3. Turn off cooling water in moving mold area.
4. When temperature of hot nozzle is lower than 150℃, turn off cooling water in fixed mold area.
5. Remove screws and pull out cavity insert from cavity fixing plate through two M8 screws.
6. Thoroughly clean, inspect cavity inserts and replace them if necessary.
7. Check sealing ring on cavity insert and replace it if necessary.
8. Install in reverse order.

Eighth, cleaning and replacement of Huff block

1. Open mold.
2. Stop heating.
3. Remove Huff block fixing screws with a T-handle.
4. Carefully remove Huff block, thoroughly clean and inspect Huff block, replace it if necessary.
5. During installation, Huff block screws cannot be tightened tightly. After mold is positioned, screws can be tightened.
6. Install in original order.
Note: It is not necessary to remove bottle mouth insert during removal.

Ninth, cleaning and replacement of slide guide

1. Open mold.
2. Stop heating.
3. Turn off cooling water in moving mold area.
4. Thoroughly clean and inspect the slide guide, replace it if necessary.
5. After applying a layer of grease, install in reverse order.
