A, thin plastic crates

Glue position is about 0.7~1.5mm
Use analysis:
Plastic boxes (frames), which are mainly based on packaging and transportation of fruits and vegetables, are mostly non-reusable and have a short service life.
Product technical points:
Bottom and four ribs are thin strips with dark flow ribs. Four-corner tube column is used as overall superimposed force point, thickness is greater than other parts, and cooling effect of insert at the hole position is very good.
Raw material selection:
PP-based. Mostly used black materials (disposable products)

Part of structure to pull four slider mechanism (production cycle shortened by 30%)

B, conventional plastic crates

Glue position is about 1.5~3mm
Use analysis:
Mainly based on transportation, distribution, storage, distribution and processing of plastic boxes (boxes) in factory logistics. Reusable.
Product technical points:
Thickness of rib is relatively close to thickness of rim, so shrinkage requirement on the surface of product is relatively high. Haf line along product cannot be misplaced inward.
Raw material selection:
PP, LDPE-based (low density polyethylene), partially adding coloring agent
Crate mould features:
Four-slide cylinder action + stripper plate is linked, and spring-loading mechanism must be used for core insertion.

C thickening plastic crates

Glue position is about 3~5mm
Use analysis:
Mainly based on plastic boxes(frames) for hardware, machinery, parts and equipment, chemical objects, sturdy and durable.
Product technical points:
These products are relatively thick in wall thickness and require high strength testing. Some require anti-acid, anti-alkali, anti-static, anti-oil and flame retardant requirements.
Raw material selection:
HDPE, PP, PVC, most of added titanium dioxide commonly known as white ash powder.

Most gates are edge gate, thicker exhaust and cooling system needs to be good.

Design points for Crate mould

High efficiency points for crate plastic molding :

A. In today's mature market, facing cost transparency, there must be innovation in the production of mold technology to fill system, special hot runner system assisted molding, so cost of plastic crates will decrease in production efficiency, HDPE is recommended on selection of plastic materials. Material melt index is preferably around 6.
B. Crate mould must have a screw speed of more than 400 on selected injection molding machine. Mold and product release systems mean a return on benefits.
C. Circulating cooling system achieves optimum results, so injection speed may be as high as 800 mm/s (set speed) when injecting plastic crates. And given cooling properties of melt, a suitable cooling system must be available at the beginning of injection. Therefore, production of crate plastic molding must use more than 2 times of quenched and tempered steel materials, so that crate mould can stand test in high efficiency production.
D. Crate plastic molding must have high-precision mold clamping, parts adopt DME standard, insert and guide prevent deformation and misalignment, so choose reasonable guiding design to improve wear resistance, reasonable insert material to improve life of crate plastic molding in high efficiency process.
E. Ejection mode of crate plastic molding is preferably designed to automatically eject mechanical system, draft angle is increased as much as possible, so that when mold is opened, ejection is smoother and more efficient, automatic mold release is realized. Therefore, design of crate plastic molding is very important, ejection action at the time of mold opening determines efficiency, thereby reducing cost.
F. Bronze is inlaid on necessary part of mold. Best features of bronze help mold to cool quickly, which helps to increase efficiency of mold by more than 2 times.

2. Longevity of crate plastic molding:

A. In the early stage, structure should be designed, different material formulas, mold bases and mold core cavities and slider parts should be selected.
B. Mold steel is strongly recommended to use 3 treatments, first tempering, second vacuum 42-46 degrees hardness treatment, third guaranteed temperature 48 hours tempering. The most important thing is to control distance of each piece of steel in furnace, so that each piece of treatment is kept even and can not not rupture because it is too hard.
C. Balance of crate plastic molding must be clamped on mold clamping machine. When crate plastic molding is placed on injection molding machine, upper mold is first installed, and then open injection molding machine to let lower mold float and re-mold, so that mold is completely installed on injection molding machine, balance is automatically run-in, which is a good way to improve life of mold.
D. Automatic mold protection system is now used in order to reliably prevent mold from being damaged when product is not detached or machine is automatically stopped due to abnormal operation.

3. High-quality points of crate plastic molding:

A. Ribs of crate plastic molding are very numerous. Force of injection load on handles at both ends causes mold to be exhausted badly, which affects brightness of product and aesthetics of defects. Therefore, surrounding exhaust is considered on processing parting surface.
B. Take full manual polishing, from 200# to 800#, then polish to 1500#.
C. Requirements for mold materials, quality, variety and performance are updated and gradually developed towards high-tech content. Mold plastic parts used in roduction of plastic crates are medium and large plastic parts. crate plastic molding of various specifications generally have many similarities in their structure, which is determined by similar appearance of designed plastic crates .
When designing crate mould, flow analysis software can be used for calculation and analysis to improve success probability of mold design and manufacture, quality of plastic molding. If hot runner technology is adopted, mold plastic part structure can be optimized, molding cycle can be shortened, advanced mechanical ejection mode can be adopted in design and processing, which can improve reliability of mold plastic part movement.
Quality of crate plastic molding has a very large impact on quality of plastic crates. When designing and processing an ideal and reliable plastic crate mould, mold and process should have following requirements: (1) Weight and volume of designed mold parts. To make crate mould have a small weight and volume, it is only one-third of mold volume using ordinary flow path and mechanical lateral parting structure. (2) Requirements in terms of structure and operation. Plastic crate mould structure should be compact, operation requirements should be high. If it is a lateral split structure, type of reset time should be flexible. (3) It can reduce amount of raw materials, improve quality and utilization of raw materials. (4) Processing time requirements. It can reduce cooling time of plastic crates, thus shortening its molding cycle. (5) This design approach requires a reduction in overall cost of mold and production.
Some suggestions for reatment of steel in processing of plastic crates: at the beginning, structure must be designed first, and according to designed structure, which material formula should be used to ensure mold base, mold core cavity and slider section can be used scientifically. Mold steel used is recommended to be treated three times. First quenching and tempering; second vacuum treatment with a vacuum of 42-46 degrees; last is to ensure temperature is tempered for 48 hours. It is very important to control distance between mold steel in furnace to ensure each treatment is uniform. If treatment is not proper, uneven hardness will easily cause mold steel to rupture.
Plastic crate mould materials are selected according to specific conditions and customer requirements. Suggestions: If our mold usage rate is relatively high, 45# steel is generally used. Mold core, cavity and slider are nitrided 718H, such a mold can be used to at least 1 million times. If mold is not used too much, mold frame material is 45# steel, core, cavity and slider are nitrided P20 steel, such a mold can be used about 500,000 times. If number of molds required is only within 200,000, we can completely use ordinary steel heating treatment to meet needs of production and processing plastic crates.
