Among automobile structural parts, air-conditioning housing is a representative product of relatively complex products. Today we will take air conditioner shell as an example to analyze design of its mold structure, which is of great practical reference value for everyone.
1. Product analysis
Car air conditioner shell is core component of car air conditioner, and product material is PP-TD20. Product design needs to consider multiple functional requirements for assembly, drainage, and air outlet, so its structure is relatively complex.
When starting mold design, how to divide front and rear molds is a key issue. According to conventional thinking, naturally side with more bones and more columns is in rear mold, side with smooth surface and less bones is in front mold. Since this product is a structural part, appearance requirements are not high, so side with more bones is divided into front mold, smooth side and side with less bones are divided into rear mold, front and rear molds are processed harshly.
2. Product glue feeding
Product uses a two-point needle valve hot nozzle to feed glue, which is directly applied on the surface of product, as shown in picture below.

Mold structure 1 (front mold slider)
Undercut 1 and undercut 2 come out of front mold. According to general thinking, front mold can be used with a lifter structure or a spring plate for core pulling. This set of molds uses oil cylinders to convert core pulling. One oil cylinder controls two sliders, and shovel base is used for sealing.

Mold structure 2 (rear mold slider 1)
Rear mold slider 1 and slider 2 have a slider structure on slider. Due to limited space, slider 2 cannot be used as a slider pressure block. T-slots are used as guides in design. This mechanism is suitable for situations where slider space is small. .

Rear mold sliders 3/4/5/6 have a conventional slider structure, and some sliders use elastic pin devices to prevent products from sticking to sliders.
