Most of methods for marking specifications of injection molding machines use three methods: injection volume, mold clamping force, injection volume and mold clamping force expressed simultaneously.

1. How to express injection volume

This method uses 80% of theoretical injection volume (cm3) of standard screw of injection molding machine as injection capacity of injection molding machine.
However, this capacity changes with injection pressure and screw diameter selected when designing injection molding machine. At the same time, injection volume is closely related to performance and status of processed materials. Therefore, specifications of two injection molding machines cannot be directly determined using injection volume representation method. For example: XS-ZY-250, represents a pre-molded (Y) plastic (S) injection (Z) molding (X) machine with an injection capacity of 250cm3.

2. Expression of mold clamping force

This method uses unit of maximum mold clamping force of injection molding machine as tons to express specifications of injection molding machine. Since mold clamping force will not be changed by other factors and can directly reflect size of products molded by injection molding machine, mold clamping force expression method is intuitive and simple. However, since mold clamping force cannot directly reflect volume of injection molded product, this method cannot express full capability and size of injection molding machine when processing products, and it is not convenient enough to use.

3. Expression of injection volume and mold clamping force

Expression method of injection volume and mold clamping force is international standard expression method of injection molding machines. This method uses theoretical injection volume as numerator and mold clamping force as denominator (injection volume/mold clamping force). Specifically expressed as SZ-□/□, S represents plastic machinery, and Z represents injection molding machine. For example, SZ-200/1000 represents a plastic injection molding machine (SZ) with a theoretical injection volume of 200cm3 and a mold clamping force of 1000KN.
